Baillie Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund has been set-up to disburse funds from the newly commissioned Baillie Wind Farm which is contributing £100,000 per annum for the 25 year life of the wind farm for the benefit of West Caithness.
The Fund, whose directors are all from West Caithness, is now ‘Open for Business’ and welcomes applications from societies, clubs, groups, residents or small businesses who reside in the West Caithness Community Council area. Though priority will be given to those in the West Caithness area it will also consider applications from educational and sporting organisations from other community council areas in Caithness and North Sutherland.
James Manson, Chairman of Baillie Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund said “The directors welcome the creation of this Fund which aims to put money back into the local area. It is a significant amount each year and our priority is to approve applications which directly benefit the community in West Caithness and we encourage clubs, groups, residents and small businesses to apply.”
Sergio Castedo from Statkraft and a Baillie Wind Farm director said “Statkraft and Baillie Wind Farm Ltd are delighted to be able to contribute to the new community benefit fund, which is being run by local people for local people. We would encourage people to apply for grants so that it can start to deliver real benefit to the local area.”
A new website has been created for those interested in applying and further information can be obtained from Caithness Chamber of Commerce which is administering the Fund on a day to day basis for the directors.
