Eligibility & Decision Criteria

Key eligibility:
- Nature of the Business & Structure
- Applicants are based in the Dounreay “travel to work area” (see below map)
- Purpose of the loan
NHRF is an open programme to all but applicants MUST be able to demonstrate:
- A funding gap exists
- Viability of the Business
- Potential for Growth & Employment
- Good practice
- Financial standing of proposed borrowing organisation
Enforcement Policy
The loans the North Highland Regeneration Fund (NHRF) make are provided by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA), which is ultimately tax payer’s money.
Therefore, the North Highland Regeneration Fund has a duty to ensure that where defaults occur all reasonable steps are taken to recover the debt. In addition, the NHRF will notify Companies House and other relevant agencies where it believes inappropriate behaviour has occurred.
